Below please find corrections for errors in the instructions in Malabrigo Book One. Our apologies for any inconvenience they may have incurred.

Repeat rows 1 – 10, 6 more times.

First round: Starting with Back, purl across round dec 3 sts across Back. = 58 (62, 66, 70, 74) sts.

Cont across Front as follows: Purl 28 (30, 32, 34, 36), sl 1, p28 (30, 32, 34, 36).

Second round: (P2tog, 1 yo) 40 (41, 42, 43, 44) times, p2tog, sl 1 st, p2tog,…

Fourth round: Knit, dec 6 sts …

Sixth round: Knit, dec 4 sts along the Back, continue on Front until 2 sts from the middle st, k2 tog tbl, sl

1, k2tog, finish round.

Next round: Purl, except for the middle st which is knit.

SLEEVES

With size 10 (6 mm) needles …

Inc 1 st at each side every 6 rows, 5 (5, 6, 6, 6) times.

FINISHING

The following text should be added to the end of the pattern.

Neck edging: With RS facing, pick up 70 (74, 78, 80) sts evenly spaced around neck opening. Work one row in k2 / p2 rib. Buttonhole: Next row (RS): Work 2 sts, bind off 2 sts, work to end. Work back to buttonhole, cast on 2 sts, work to end. Work one row in rib st. Bind off all sts in rib over next row.

Armhole edgings: With RS facing, pick up 74 (78, 82, 86) sts along armhole edge and work in k2 / p2 rib for 4 rows. Bind off all sts in rib over next row.

Join side seams. Sew on button.


ARAPEY SHAWL

The yarn over at the end of Rows 5, 7 and 9 should instead be worked as an increase by placing a backwards loop on the RH needle (simple cast-on).
